Botany Walk at Black Rock Forest
September 29, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

THIS EVENT WAS RESCHEDULED FROM 8/10/2024.
Join expert botanist, Steve Young, on a botany walk to explore the flora of Black Rock Forest in Cornwall. We’ll walk at a slow pace on unpaved roads and hiking trails stopping frequently to identify plants along the way.
All are welcome from novice to experienced botanists. Bring your hiking gear and explore the miles of trails at the end of the walk.
This event is limited to 20 participants. Preregistration is required.
Steve has kindly offered to share his expertise for this event to help raise funds for Wild Woods Restoration Project. Each participant is encouraged to make a donation to Wild Woods Restoration Project to help us further our mission of restoring the Hudson Valley forests with local, native plants grown by volunteers and inspiring a sense of continued stewardship. (Suggested donation $20).
Steve Young recently retired from 31 years as the chief botanist for the New York Natural Heritage Program where he explored natural areas all over New York state inventorying and studying its rare plants. He is an author of the online New York Rare Plant Conservation Guides and the New York Rare Plant Status Lists.
